Phil--I'm sure you've had all sorts of feelings lately but it is highly unlikely that "weak and malnourished" is one of them! C.B. |

We're booked! In discussions with the hotel people and Tom's indication of nearby food, I think this might qualify as an Ride To Eat event. I posted the reservation and hotel information here: http://www.my-mc.com/messages/1/112589.html?1236874637 |

Jason-Your name was mentioned as the leader in a JJJ from Kentucky to Friendstoc. Any truth to the rumour? |

So the event is Fri 29 - Sun 31. Memorial Day is Mon 25. What days would you all want to start the JJJ ride to the event? Just wondering how many would not want to miss out on family / traditional gatherings at home before striking out on a ride. I don't have anything chaining me down, but others might? Well, who does and who don't? I've got some good roads to get us through KY and into WV, although from the direction of due east through the eastern end of WV to VA and the mountains in that area we will have to hit some of the same roads we did last year over in there - which aint really a bad thing if you ask me, some of those are great. Just saying that it ALL won't be "new roads" - but then again, is there ever new roads for some of you jokers? ......... |

JASON - Since about 250-300 miles is all we can probably manage in a day (closer to the 250 than the 300) where would we start from? That sort of determines what day we start. BTW, I can send the routes from last year and a few 'changed up' ones I've been looking at if you like in MS S&T 2005 (just PM me with your e-mail addy). If you started on Wednesday morning, that would give us Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to get there. Just some thoughts I've gained from a 'few' previous experiences ... Jason, I've booked vacation time from May 21 to June 2nd..although I may have a change at work where I may have to change shifts. That may throw a wrinkle into things but I'll know for sure in early April. If I stay on the same shift????, ...."I don't have anything chaining me down".....so I'd be able to meet you (if you can??)to do a Pre-JJJ and maybe ride down early to meet Uncle Phil and do some Tennessee leaning while making our way up to the JJJ. Just an idea!!! Andeeeee |

UP - yeah, that mileage is about what I have down so far - around 250-275 per day. I've got the KY routes covered with roads that hopefully will be new to most of the group (who all will be in the group anyways?). Send me the info on the routes and I'll compare what you have with what I have been thinking for WV and VA. ANDEEE - sounds good to me - you guys just let me know, I've got lots of vacation days I can burn So, the JJJ will begin in Georgetown, KY - about 15miles north of Lexington. Several hotels right off the interstate at Exit 126. Lots of eatin places too - low crime so should be no worries there - I'd MUCH rather stay in Gtown than Lex anyday. Day 1 will start us out from Gtown and run some of the best twisties in the area and we'll end up in West Liberty, KY. Just happened to be around the 270 mile mark for the roads I'd like to cover. As an added bonus, that is my wife's hometown, little small place with a Days Inn (or something like that - I'll check it out next time I am down there). We were thinking once we get into town we can all ride over to a house in town that my in-law's own to have a cook out. My wife and her mom can be running the grill and have the burgers and dogs ready when we roll into town (or whenever we want them to be). May even get my mo-in-law to fix up some of her homemade biscuits and ham that are always a favorite. We can mingle in the back yard, through the house watch tv and tell lies, or sit in the rockers on the big old front porch and eat and tell lies and watch the sun set in a small little relaxing country town. Plenty of blacktop parking for the bikes too. I'll even crack out the 4-seater "dune buggy", as my boys call it, and give some guided tours of the trails back up behind the house. It'll be a good time.

I'm hoping to make the JJJ. It's 693 miles from my house to Georgetown, so if Tuesday goes well, I'll be there ready to go Wednesday morning. Any set choices on where to stay in Georgetown? Maybe JJJ should have it's own thread. |

Thanks Paul...might just do that. We'll try and avoid the Diesel pumps and see if we can't make it in time to buy the Chinese food this time! This is going to have to be one of those wait and see rides. Not all of us have Bamarider's hand. Tim and AMBER have talked about doing Big Bend/Hill Country in April but if he can't make it then, perhaps he'll do FriendSToc again. He also has this thing called running a business that gets in the way! |

Tell me about it. "Running a business" is why I'm going to FS rather than doing a 3 or 4 week vacation. I call it a good "sacrifice" though. |

The www.friendstoc.org website is up (thanks Reg) but Mary and I sure look lonely as the only 2 attendees. I forgot to mention earlier that if you plan to go, please let Reg or me know so we can update the attendee list. Tom |
