Tom: from my selfish perspective it looks great. Not too far, not too close. Just right. |

If this location isn't settled, I can suggest Salem, Va. It's near Roanoke, 45 minutes south of Natural Bridge, with numerous motel/hotels right off I-81. Run roads in Va. or head west into W. Va. Either way, I'll probably make it. |

The Natural Bridge Inn between Roanoke and Buena Vista,, VA caters to motorcyclists, just to toss another onion in the pot. They offer a 20% internet discount to anyone on a bike. http://www.naturalbridgeva.com/cycle.html |

Stephen, we have done Natural Bridge Inn for a coupla years in the recent past. The facilities, food and staff left much to be desired. "Never ascribe to treachery or deceit that which can be explained by stupidity or incompetence."

Uncle Phil, Is there a PPP 2009 in the works? After leaning for several days last spring on the PPP, I'm NEEDN" some more!!!! Even if Friendstoc doesn't set a date or place, I'm up for some Tennessee asphalt in May. Maybe the "MODEL HUSBAND" can break out and finally get his taillight fixed...LOL I may have to call Debbie to spring him for a few days... Andeeee |

I'm waiting for final commitment from wisp but the dates are tentatively May 15-17. I should have the commitment and hotel details within a few days. The dinner menu will follow shortly after. Tom |

Ok, here's an update. I've had it with Wisp not responding to my requests. I had talked with them on the phone, had the room arrangements and a dinner plan. They were supposed to email me the contract and some additional information. I have called at least 3 times a week for the past 3 weeks they keep telling me it is on the way or has been emailed. I've checked my junk folder and there's nothing. Yesterday I sent them an email and asked them to respond in case they had written down the wrong email for me. Nothing. So, I'm scouting other locations. Lodging is not a problem. It's the dinner that requires us to stay in a larger resort type place. I have a few places I'm checking with and I'll post on my progress. Reasonable room rates, clean rooms, good roads food nearby, and a room for the dinner. Sorry for the lateness of this. I was really held up with waiting for Wisp. Tom |

TOM - I just appreciate your willingness to do all of the legwork. Maybe a motel somewhere that has a restaurant that would rent out a back room or something? Good luck in your efforts. RedBird-97STD 120,000+M SweetTreat-02ABS 50,000+M FroST-97ABS 1,000+M http://www.unclephil.us/

After 3 weeks, an hour after I posted I got an email from Wisp. I'm still looking to hold FriendSTOC VI at another location. Has anyone had any experience with The Village Inn in Harrisonburg, Va.? http://www.thevillageinn.travel/ I haven't contacted them yet but it looks like a nice place to hold the event. And it's within ST distance of the BRP, Skyline Drive and West Virginia. |

Tom, Jan's brother lives in Grottoes and is only a few miles from Harrisonburg. I'll ask him to check it out. I am sorry to say that this will be the first FriendSTOC that I will miss as we have already made plans for that weekend. I will be happy to do what ever I can to help, although we will be traveling for most of April. |

I spoke with Kevin at The Village Inn http://www.thevillageinn.travel/ located just outside Harrisonburg, Va. Very friendly, accommodating people. The issue that the weekend of May 16th is a big college graduation weekend and availability is limited. But the weekend of May 29 -31 is open for us. They will also partition off a section of the restaurant, we can order off the menu and by the time the shortened version of the auction begins we should have most of the restaurant to ourselves. Room rates are as follows: 1 Queen single occupancy = $74 1 Queen shared = $85 2 Double or Queens = $89 Most rooms have microwave, refrigerator, TV, etc. I forgot to ask about internet access. Please let me know if: This date is okay? The location is acceptable? You plan to attend? I haven't committed to the date with them yet. Please post your thoughts. Thanks, Tom |

If it's 5/29-5/31, I'm in! I may or may not be staying at the same hotel though, so don't count me for that. I'll figure it out later. |
