I just purchased a 1991 ST1100 and it came with the Hondaline trunk accessory. The guy I bought it from did not have the key. I have a couple of questions: 1. Does anyone else have one of these and if so, can you tell me what the key looks like? Is it generic? Could you send me a photo of the key? 2. If this key is generic, does anyone have an extra key that they do not need? 3. Is this something that the dealer may be able to get for me? Also, do they make a pad so the trunk can serve as a backrest? |

BRIAN - The key is not generic but the blank depends on whether you have the tall (35L) or the short (20L) one. A helmet will fit in the tall one but not the short one. The tall one has Hepco & Becker locks and the short has Sundehaus(?) locks. The tall box key looks like -
The Hepco & Becker importers contact information is - Chris Canterbury www.eurotechmotorsports.com Eurotech Motor Sports 1017 Willow ST. Chico, CA.95928 530 345-7145 phone 530 345-7138 fax But, you will need the key number for them to help you - which you don't have. They can put you in touch with folks that sell the locks and keys. I could not find an ILCO key blank that would work from various locksmiths. As far as the backrest pad goes, there is a stock one but it is pretty much a very thin pad that sticks on the trunk. I moved the trunk back on a special plate and screwed the standard Hondaline backrest pad to them.

Phil, Thanks for the detailed information. I have the short box, which I learned from your response is the 20L. I will see if I can track down the company that you mentioned. Thanks for your help. I may need to fab up something for the backrest like you did. Thanks again.... |

BRIAN - You might do a search over at ST-Owners.com. There was a long discussion about this very subject also. Also, you might PM SmartHound on this board. I believe he may have the contact information for the other company. Good Luck! RedBird-97STD 120,000+M SweetTreat-02ABS 50,000+M FroST-97ABS 1,000+M http://www.unclephil.us/
